Barclays appoints new Managing Director for Japan

International digital bank Barclays has announced the appointment of Akihiko Yamada as Managing Director and Head of Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) at Barclays Securities Japan Limited.

Mr. Yamada joins Barclays from Bank of America, where he was a Managing Director in the Group of Investment Banking Division. Previously, he worked at Goldman Sachs and before that at the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

According to the FNG website, the new Managing Director of the Japan unit has 17 years of experience working with TMT clients. He is also skilled in initiating and executing mergers and acquisitions, as well as working in the capital markets.

Akihiko Yamada will report to Yuhiko Yano, Head of Investment Banking in Japan and Vice Chairman of Barclays Securities Japan.

"As our Investment Banking business continues to expand its footprint across the technology sector, Mr. Yamada's deep industry relationships, together with his extensive transactional experience and capabilities, will generate tremendous value for our clients," said Yuhiko Yano.

We previously reported that Barclays has invested £3 million in its Trade Ledger working capital management platform.
