Stripe, the world's largest financial services and e-commerce software provider, announced a partnership agreement with WhatsApp.

The partnership will enable Singapore-based businesses and users to buy and sell directly from the WhatsApp mobile app.

The new feature is powered by Stripe Connect and Stripe Checkout and supports a variety of payment methods, including credit and debit cards, as well as the PayNow payment system, according to Stripe's website.

"The speed and convenience of payments through WhatsApp will help businesses expand their revenue streams with new channels and access a wider customer base," said Sarita Singh, Regional Head and Managing Director for Southeast Asia at Stripe.

Initially, the new feature will be available to Singaporean companies using the WhatsApp Business Platform, which includes a Stripe account.

Singaporean businesses accepting payments through WhatsApp chat will also have access to the Stripe dashboard to manage all their data.

It was previously reported that Stripe launched a platform that allowed users to buy cryptocurrencies in fiat.

Stripe provides the ability to accept electronic payments in 135 currencies from anywhere in the world and offers a wide range of solutions to simplify tax reporting, dynamic KYC/AML verification, and fraud protection.
