Brief Look at C-Cex
C-CEX, a crypto exchange, ceased operations on June 1, 2019. A day earlier, the exchange announced a reorganization without providing reasons or a timeline for resuming activities. Before that, users had reported frequent website outages, non-functioning wallets for certain altcoins, and delays in fund withdrawals. There were also complaints of blocked transactions without explanations, poor support, and manipulated quotes.
In September 2018, C-CEX was reportedly hacked, resulting in the theft of Dogecoin and Litecoin from client accounts. After that incident, the platform’s reputation deteriorated, user activity declined, and trading operations nearly stopped.
Although the closure was not officially recognized as fraud, the lack of transparent reporting, termination of services, and inability to contact management led many to conclude that the exchange had effectively abandoned its users. Since the reorganization announcement, C-CEX has not resumed operations.
