According to the company’s official announcement, since May 8, 2025, OANDA Securities has offered optional two-factor authentication (2FA) for its My Page client portal via the Google Authenticator app. This free mobile app generates one-time codes, which users must enter in addition to their email address and password when logging into My Page, OANDA Lab, or the fxTrade platform.

OANDA has now confirmed that 2FA will become mandatory for all My Page logins in the second half of 2025. The exact enforcement date will be announced later, but the broker strongly urges clients who have not yet activated 2FA to do so as soon as possible.

The company emphasized that the new requirement is separate from existing two-factor protections for MT4 and MT5 accounts. To enable it, users must install Google Authenticator on their smartphone and activate 2FA through My Page, as it is disabled by default.

Password recommendations

In addition to enabling 2FA, OANDA strongly advises clients to update their passwords regularly to prevent unauthorized access. The recommendations include:

• Avoid reusing passwords across different services

• Refrain from using easily guessable details (e.g., birth dates or names)

• Increase password length and complexity by mixing character types

Passwords should never be shared with third parties, and clients are advised not to log in or trade from devices accessible to others. Detailed instructions for changing passwords for My Page and MT4/MT5 are available on OANDA’s help pages.

Fighting fraud and strengthening trust

This initiative comes amid a surge in fraudulent activity within the financial sector, with brokerage accounts increasingly targeted by cybercriminals. By making multi-factor authentication mandatory, OANDA aims to bolster client asset protection.

A company spokesperson stated that OANDA will continue to invest in additional cybersecurity measures, including multi-factor systems, to maintain a secure trading environment.
