Interactive Brokers launches Connections tool for global investors
IBKR simplifies global trading analysis

Interactive Brokers (IBKR), a global electronic trading company, has introduced Connections — a new discovery tool designed to help investors identify trading opportunities by showing how securities and economic factors are linked across different markets. Integrated directly into the IBKR platform, Connections brings together stocks, ETFs, options, futures, bonds, and macroeconomic indicators in one place, enabling clients to uncover opportunities that may have previously gone unnoticed.

Capabilities and features of connections

The tool leverages Interactive Brokers’ extensive product coverage, spanning more than 160 global markets, according to the company’s website. By combining data on equities, derivatives, fixed income, forecast contracts, and thematic investments, Connections allows traders to analyze cross-asset relationships in a single interface. The company emphasized that the new feature is designed to give both retail and institutional investors a more holistic perspective on portfolio construction, risk management, and strategy development.

“Interactive Brokers clients can access stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, funds, and more across 160 global markets from one integrated platform,” said Milan Galik, CEO of Interactive Brokers. “That breadth is the result of decades of expanding our product offering and geographic reach, and it’s what makes Connections possible. By bringing all of this together, Connections helps our clients uncover opportunities that other platforms simply cannot match.”

Connections includes data on peer companies, thematic baskets, ETFs, forecast contracts tied to key indicators such as interest rates or housing starts, and sector-linked strategies. This enables users to explore not only single instruments but entire market ecosystems around a chosen idea.

Practical use cases

The company highlighted several scenarios: a trader analyzing a major technology firm could uncover lesser-known competitors in cloud computing; an investor holding shares of a homebuilder might explore forecast contracts linked to housing sales or hedging strategies; and for emerging topics such as carbon capture, Connections can identify companies connected through ETFs, revenue streams, or macroeconomic trends.

Alongside Connections, Interactive Brokers continues to offer additional analytical tools, including sentiment analysis, bond screeners, valuation comparisons, and securities lending data. Together, these resources expand discovery and decision-making capabilities for a wide range of investors.

With the launch of Connections, IBKR reinforces its position as a leader in trading innovation, giving investors a powerful tool to analyze the global marketplace.
