Soybean Futures price falls nearly 2% as sellers hold control and bearish momentum persists
Soybean futures slide 1.62% today

Soybean Futures (ZS) dropped 1.62% as sellers maintained control, driven by clear short- and medium-term selling pressure. The move is supported by the price holding below the 20-day and 50-day moving averages, confirming a bearish near-term structure.

Highlights

  • Soybean Futures trade below short- and medium-term moving averages but remain above the long-term support level, indicating ongoing selling pressure but a still-intact bullish trend backdrop.
  • Momentum indicators show a sell bias and weak trend strength, with negative MACD, bearish ADX, oversold CCI, and a bearish Awesome Oscillator, while intraday volatility is at 1.62%.
  • Price is projected to fluctuate between $1,228 and $1,268 over five days, with a 57% probability of a downward move and baseline expectations for sideways action near current levels.
Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, notes that Soybean Futures are showing persistent weakness, with prices breaking key moving averages and trading at session lows. He points to negative momentum across most technical indicators, while short-term selling pressure is dominant. Kharitonov is cautious about the lack of supporting news, which could leave the market exposed to deeper downside risk. He highlights that while prices are still above the 200-day average, this support is fragile if current sentiment persists. "The critical technical environment and absence of positive catalysts suggest traders should remain defensive and reduce bullish exposure for now," Kharitonov warns.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, observes ongoing volatility in Soybean Futures, but remains constructive. He points out that the longer-term trend, anchored above the 200-day moving average at USX1,207, preserves a bullish structure despite recent selling. Karapetjanc sees opportunity in the potential for price stabilization if buyers defend key support at USX1,228, especially as the Bull/Bear Power indicator stays positive. "I expect further growth if the market holds the current band — this setup offers traders multiple chances to position for a rebound," he states.
Jainam Mehta, market strategist, notes the tactical significance of the recent downside gap and neutral Stochastic RSI in Soybean Futures. He highlights the lack of fresh macro drivers as a reason for the sideways forecast and points to possible contrarian opportunities from indicator divergences. "A breakout above USX1,249 or a breakdown below USX1,228 could provide actionable trade setups over the next few sessions," Mehta suggests.

Negative momentum intensifies amid lack of support from oscillators

Soybean Futures are trading below both the 20-day (USX1,283) and 50-day (USX1,291) moving averages, but remain above the 200-day (USX1,207), indicating prevailing short- and medium-term selling pressure, while the longer-term structure still shows support. Near-term resistance is set at USX1,249, with support at USX1,228, and the current alignment between the 50-day and 200-day moving averages continues to confirm a bullish underlying trend backdrop. Momentum is negative, as both the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) and the Average Directional Index (ADX) indicate a sell bias and lack of trend strength. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) is in sell territory at 43.76, the Commodity Channel Index (CCI) flags oversold conditions, and Stochastic RSI points to neutral; there is a notable divergence as Bull/Bear Power (BBP) remains positive, showing intraday dominance by buyers but also an overbought signal. The Awesome Oscillator (AO) supports continued bearish momentum. The price is currently at USX1,248 after dropping 1.62% today, opening with a downside gap of about 1.26%, and sits near the session low, as intraday volatility stands at 1.62%. The intraday tone is clearly pressured after the open, aligning with the bearish signals on momentum indicators.

Earlier, analysts noted that Soybean Futures were navigating a mixed technical environment with a slight upside tilt but no decisive trend. The current shift to pronounced selling pressure and a higher likelihood of downside movement underscores elevated short-term risk, making the next major support level a critical area for traders to monitor.
