Biomea Fusion opens diabetes trial

Biomea Fusion announced that it is now enrolling adult participants for the COVALENT-212 clinical trial, which will evaluate the investigational drug icovamenib in individuals with type 2 diabetes.

Eligible participants must be between 18 and 70 years old, have a confirmed diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, and currently be taking semaglutide (Ozempic). This move underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to exploring novel treatments for diabetes.

Earlier this year, Dr. Juan Pablo Frias presented new advances in diabetes treatment innovation for Biomea Fusion at ATTD 2026. The company also sought new partners and investors for its metabolic disease pipeline at the BIOEurope2026 conference. Both initiatives reflect Biomea Fusion’s ongoing activity in the diabetes and metabolic disease sector.
