VIASAT INC launches Australian space challenge

VIASAT INC has introduced its inaugural Australian challenge for the Space for Good program, inviting university and TAFE students to leverage space technology to address real-world problems. The competition offers a prize pool of up to 20,000 AUD.

Phase 1 of the contest is now open, marking the company’s first foray into engaging young Australian innovators in space solutions. The initiative aims to inspire the next generation to apply satellite and space technologies for social impact and sustainable development.

The announcement follows VIASAT's earlier effort to build industry talent by welcoming over 120 interns from six countries through its global intern program. The company has also advanced its satellite deployment capabilities, recently completing encapsulation of the ViaSat-3 satellite ahead of launch. VIASAT continues to expand its space industry engagement in Australia and beyond.
