The session opened with a gap up from the previous close of $106.63 to $107.5 before shares of Blackstone gave back part of those initial gains. Trading remains below the MA-20, MA-50, and MA-200, keeping the daily chart structure bearish. The nearest support is the weekly low at $105.49, while RSI at 30.8 is nearing oversold territory, suggesting the recent decline may be getting stretched.
To gauge whether the recent event is being fully priced in, traders should watch for a close above $114.04 or a drop below $105.49. At the open, Blackstone stock jumped from $106.63 to $107.5 and then retraced part of that early move. Even so, while the past week has shown a sustained move higher with a firm trend, for the coming trading week the probability of further upside is less than 20%, while the probability of downside is more than 80%, with a likely range of $102.72 to $111.39. A close above $114.04 would confirm buyers are willing to follow through, while a drop below $105.49 would suggest the move is being rejected. On the weekly chart the longer-term picture stays firmly negative.
Previously it was reported that Blackstone’s minority investment in Air Canada’s Aeroplan program signaled a constructive outlook for the firm’s shares. The recent oversubscribed close of the BX Energy Transition Partners V fund now marks a shift, with technical indicators warranting close attention to the $105.49 support level as downside risk remains elevated in the current trading environment.
