Crypto market recap: regulatory pressure in U.S. and Europe hits crypto market
The crypto market capitalization has declined to around $2.38 trillion, losing more than 2.5% over the past 24 hours, while the Fear & Greed Index stands at 30 (fear), reflecting worsening investor sentiment and rising caution amid macroeconomic and regulatory factors.
Highlights
- Market cap fell to $2.38 trillion as sentiment weakened, with Fear & Greed Index at 30
- BTC dropped below $70,000, while altcoins show deeper losses and weaker demand
- Regulatory pressure rises globally, increasing uncertainty and limiting market momentum
BTC is trading near $69,300, down approximately 2.4% over the day, maintaining a market cap of around $1.38 trillion but failing to hold above the key $70,000 level. Ethereum has dropped to about $2,078, showing stronger pressure with a nearly 5% decline over the week. XRP is hovering near $1.37, losing more than 6% over seven days, indicating weak demand.
BNB is trading around $629, also remaining under pressure, while Solana is holding in the $87–88 range, showing a decline and loss of momentum. Overall, the market is shifting into a correction phase after recent gains, with altcoins falling faster than BTC.
Regulatory risks intensify in the U.S. and Europe
A key pressure factor remains increasing regulatory uncertainty, particularly around stablecoins and crypto policy. Coinbase is actively lobbying for changes to the CLARITY Act and warns it may withdraw support if restrictions on stablecoin yields are introduced, as they are a critical part of its business model.
At the same time, the UK is tightening pressure on the crypto industry: authorities are preparing a ban on crypto donations to political parties due to risks of foreign influence and lack of transparency. These steps reflect a global trend toward stricter oversight of digital assets. Meanwhile, regulators continue developing infrastructure: the UK has already launched sandbox programs for stablecoins and tokenization, showing an attempt to balance control and innovation. Thus, the market faces a contradictory environment — technological development is accompanied by increasing restrictions.
Australia and global markets push further regulation
Additional pressure comes from other jurisdictions, including Australia, where the government is advancing digital asset reforms and requiring platform licensing, increasing oversight of the sector. These measures aim to integrate crypto into the traditional financial system but also raise barriers to entry.
Overall, the U.S., Europe, and Asia are moving toward stricter regulation, reducing speculative activity while increasing the role of institutional players. The market responds with lower liquidity and volatility but becomes more structured. Investors are increasingly evaluating not only macroeconomic factors but also political decisions that directly impact capital flows. This strengthens the crypto market’s dependence on regulatory developments.
BTC, XRP, SOL, and BNB: key levels and scenarios
BTC is holding the key $68,000–$70,000 range, where the balance between buyers and sellers is currently forming; however, losing this zone could intensify downward movement. XRP remains weak around $1.35–1.38, showing no clear reversal signals. Solana is holding near $87 but remains sensitive to overall market sentiment and liquidation risks. BNB is trading around $630, showing sideways movement with a downward bias.
Daily BTC trading volumes remain above $30 billion, indicating sustained interest but without aggressive capital inflows. In the current structure, the market remains vulnerable to news and macro factors, and further movement will depend on the balance between regulatory pressure and institutional demand.
Recently we wrote that discussions around the CLARITY Act have stalled once again. The latest setback comes from Coinbase, which has rejected the newest compromise proposal on stablecoin yield.
