But we saved everything 🙂.
Nathan Allman, founder and CEO of Ondo Finance, has unexpectedly passed away, the company announced on Monday.
Allman graduated from Brown University and founded Ondo Finance in 2021 after working on Goldman Sachs’ digital assets team. Under his leadership, Ondo became one of the notable blockchain companies in the tokenized real-world assets segment. The project launched products such as USDY and OUSG, as well as tokenized equities through Ondo Global Markets.
The company said Ondo President Ian De Bode will take over as CEO. According to Ondo, he has been responsible for the company’s strategy, products, and day-to-day operations for more than two years.
“The mission of Ondo, Nate’s mission, has not changed. If Nate were here, he would want us to continue operating at the highest level. We will make him proud,” De Bode wrote on X.
The company did not disclose details about the cause of Allman’s death. Ondo stressed that it will continue working to realize his vision of creating a more open and accessible financial system.
Ondo Finance has become one of the most visible projects at the intersection of DeFi and traditional finance. The company focuses on instruments that allow assets from traditional capital markets — from Treasury bonds to public securities — to be used within blockchain infrastructure. Because of this, Ondo is often described as one of the leading representatives of the RWA sector, or the tokenization of real-world assets.
Interest in Ondo is driven not only by its individual products, but also by the company’s broader role in the development of institutional DeFi. The project aims to make blockchain infrastructure more understandable for large investors who value regulated instruments, transparent yield, and links to traditional financial markets. This is why Ondo is seen as part of a broader trend in which the crypto industry is gradually moving beyond speculative tokens and closer to bond, equity, and fund markets.
As a reminder, Ondo and Glider introduced an automated platform for indexing equities on the blockchain.
