RWA tokenisation market grows at record pace
Tokenized real-world assets hit record $22.1B amid institutional push.

Tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) reached an all-time high of $22.1 billion on May 6.

The market jumped 10.5% over the past 30 days, fueled largely by private credit and U.S. Treasury tokenization, reports Cryptopolitan

The number of RWA holders also climbed 5.6% to over 100,000, with 189 active issuers recorded.

The current RWA composition includes $13 billion in private credit and $6.6 billion in tokenized Treasurys. Commodities account for $1.4 billion, public equity for $448 million, and institutional alternative funds for roughly $470 million. Ethereum continues to dominate RWA infrastructure, hosting over $4.9 billion in tokenized Treasurys.

Major players move to blockchain

Recent momentum in the RWA space was driven by announcements from legacy financial firms and Web3-native platforms. BlackRock filed to tokenize shares of its $150 billion Treasury Trust fund, aiming to mirror investor holdings on blockchain. Libre announced plans to tokenize $500 million in Telegram bonds, and MultiBank Group inked a $3 billion tokenization deal with MAG and Mavryk in Dubai — the largest initiative of its kind to date.

Eric Priscini of Hashgraph said the surge is no coincidence, crediting improved infrastructure, regulatory clarity, and large-scale institutional engagement. He noted, “Big players are actually doing it – BlackRock is tokenizing funds.”

Political tailwinds and market confidence

Analysts attribute the recent growth to both technological maturity and political support. President Trump’s pro-crypto stance and the DOJ’s recent softening toward crypto enforcement have improved sentiment. Brickken CTO Felipe D’Onofrio emphasized that macroeconomic stress is pushing institutions toward tokenization for greater efficiency and liquidity.

Security Token Market CEO Herwig Koningson added that multi-chain strategies by giants like BlackRock are pushing banks to explore permissioned and private blockchain systems. The RWA sector, once theoretical, is now being shaped by real-world execution from global financial leaders.
