Can ETH break $2,000 before historically weak September begins?
ETH remains range-bound as ETF inflows improve.

Ethereum remains trapped between the 50-day and 200-day SMAs, leaving the technical setup largely unchanged from the previous analysis. At the same time, renewed inflows into spot ETFs and preparations for Glamsterdam are providing some fundamental support.

The Ethereum Foundation has warned developers about potential compatibility issues following the implementation of Glamsterdam. Changes to the gas model could disrupt some wallets, indexers, and gas estimators if their software relies on hard-coded gas limits. To allow developers to test the changes early, the Foundation has launched the public Platåberget testnet.

Glamsterdam includes several significant protocol changes, including a new gas-pricing model, Enshrined Proposer-Builder Separation, Block-Level Access Lists, and an increase in the maximum size of smart contracts.

Institutional flows have also improved. According to SoSoValue, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs recorded $71.47 million in net inflows on August 18, marking a return to positive flows after a recent period of weaker demand.

Key moving averages continue to define ETH’s next move

ETH’s technical structure has changed little since the previous analysis. The price remains between two key moving averages, and a break beyond either one will likely determine the next meaningful short- and medium-term move.

The 50-day SMA near $1,850 remains the main support level. A decisive break and sustained move below it would significantly weaken the current structure and increase the probability of a decline toward $1,700.

On the upside, the 200-day SMA near $2,000 remains the main obstacle. If buyers can clear this level and hold above it, the balance would shift in their favor, with the $2,100 area becoming the next target.

September seasonality adds a major risk for ETH

Historically, September has been Ethereum’s weakest month. ETH’s average September return is around -10.2%.

As the end of August approaches, this seasonal pattern becomes an additional risk factor for short-term traders.

Against the backdrop of prolonged consolidation and low volatility, position sizing and risk management remain especially important, as a breakout from the range during a historically weak period could be accompanied by a sharp directional move.
