Bybit restricts transactions with dozens of crypto platforms

Crypto exchange Bybit has published a list of counterparties that could trigger restrictions for users who interact with them. The list includes crypto platforms, payment services, mixers, darknet marketplaces and several organizations, including the Lazarus Group.

According to the company's statement, the list includes Garantex, Bitzlato, EXMO, Payeer, Nobitex, Bitpapa, Chatex, Cryptex, Grinex, Rapira, WhiteBird, OMPFinex, Ramzinex, HTX, Wallex, Tetherland, Bit24 and QvaPay. The restrictions also cover Huione Guarantee, Xinbi Guarantee and several services designed to enhance transaction privacy.

Crypto mixers and darknet platforms form a separate category, including Samourai Wallet, Bitcoin Fog, ChipMixer, Sinbad and Hydra Market. The company also included several organizations subject to international restrictions.

Bybit can block transactions and accounts

The restricted counterparty list includes North Korean hacking group Lazarus Group, as well as several organizations linked to armed conflicts and subject to sanctions or other restrictions in various jurisdictions.

If Bybit identifies a connection between a user or transaction and a counterparty on the list, the exchange reserves the right to take action in accordance with its own restrictions and the laws of the relevant jurisdiction.

In particular, the company may suspend or close an account, block related transactions or funds, and liquidate open positions. Bybit may also provide necessary information to regulatory authorities.

However, the inclusion of a company or service on the list does not automatically mean that every user who has ever interacted with it will be blocked. Any action depends on the identified connection and the requirements applicable in the relevant jurisdiction.

Crypto exchange expands beyond digital assets

The publication of the list comes as Bybit undergoes a broader transformation of its business. The company is gradually moving beyond the traditional crypto exchange model and expanding its range of financial products amid competition for users seeking trading, payments and asset management within a single platform.

Other major crypto platforms are taking a similar approach by adding tools for traditional assets and payments. As a result, the distinction between crypto exchanges and all-in-one financial platforms is gradually narrowing.

Earlier, we reported that Bybit unveiled a new financial platform using intelligent technologies. The company positions it as part of its strategy to expand its financial services beyond traditional cryptocurrency trading.
