Ripple, Privy expand XRPL wallet support for app developers
XRPL wallets for developers

As stablecoin and crypto payment infrastructure broadens across fintech, Ripple and Stripe-owned Privy are partnering to add XRP Ledger wallet support to Privy's developer platform. The integration lets developers embed XRPL wallets into apps without building the underlying wallet stack, extending support to XRP, RLUSD and other network-issued assets.

Highlights

  • Ripple and Privy announced XRPL wallet support for Privy's embedded wallet infrastructure, enabling developers to integrate XRP Ledger wallets within applications without separate systems.
  • Privy's solution allows apps to manage XRPL wallets directly, support stablecoin-based services, and facilitate user-controlled export of private keys and seed phrases.
  • The integration will support x402 payments and enable AI-driven agentic commerce, while future plans include policy controls and developer-sponsored network fees.

Embedded wallet rollout for XRPL apps

The Block reported that Ripple and Privy are teaming up to bring XRP Ledger support to Privy's wallet infrastructure, allowing developers to create and manage XRPL wallets directly inside their applications. The setup enables transaction signing and asset support without requiring companies to build wallet systems on their own.

Privy says its embedded wallets work within an app, removing the need for users to connect a separate crypto wallet. That model can help fintech and payments companies offer stablecoin-based services while reducing the burden on users to manage private keys themselves, although users can still export private keys and seed phrases if they want to move to another provider.

Henri Stern, co-founder and chief executive of Privy and head of crypto and stablecoins at Stripe, says stablecoins are changing how money moves and that XRPL has long been built for payments. Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX at Ripple, says Privy's infrastructure should make it easier for fintechs and developers to integrate XRPL into payment products, stablecoin services and agentic commerce use cases.

Stablecoin and AI payment use cases widen

Privy will also allow developers to create XRPL wallets that can be managed by apps, opening the way for AI agents to hold funds and make payments. The companies say the wallets will support x402 payments as well, a feature aimed at letting software and AI agents pay for online services.

Stripe acquired Privy last year, but the company continues to operate separately as Stripe expands its broader crypto and stablecoin business. Privy says it plans to extend the integration over time with policy controls and gas sponsorship, which would let developers set transaction rules and cover network fees for users.

Our earlier coverage of American Express’s Intent Intelligence Framework explained how the company aims to verify a customer’s purchase intent before an AI agent completes a transaction. The framework uses an API-driven “Create Intent” flow, intent tokens, and digital credentials to reduce unauthorized purchases and help with fraud prevention and dispute resolution as agentic commerce scales.
