Euro vs Indonesian Rupiah stays under pressure as technical and fundamental factors favor the Rupiah
Euro vs rupiah slides 0.46% today

Euro vs Indonesian Rupiah (EUR/IDR) fell on renewed support for the Rupiah following stronger-than-expected third quarter GDP data and continuing intervention measures from Bank Indonesia. The decline is reinforced by EUR/IDR trading below its 20-, 50-, and 200-day moving averages, which supports the ongoing downside pressure.

Market sellers dominate as upbeat GDP and intervention lift rupiah

Indonesian third quarter GDP data exceeded expectations, highlighting resilient domestic economic conditions. Bank Indonesia continued its triple-intervention strategy in the spot, derivative, and bond markets, aiming to stabilize the Rupiah and encourage capital inflows. Market indicators during this period signaled sellers in control of the EUR/IDR pair, with the Euro lagging key technical averages against the Rupiah.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, believes downside risks dominate the EUR/IDR outlook after stronger Indonesian GDP and heavy Bank Indonesia intervention. He notes the pair failing below major moving averages and sees technical indicators lacking clear bullish conviction. Kharitonov is skeptical of brief buyer support, citing a weak trend and neutral oscillators. He warns that sustained pressure and policy-driven flows leave EUR/IDR vulnerable to further declines. "Until the Rupiah shows clear reversal or intervention risks ease, bottom-fishing EUR/IDR is premature and caution is warranted."
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, sees robust Indonesian GDP growth and Bank Indonesia's proactive interventions as catalysts for capital inflows and market resilience. He is constructive on the Rupiah's momentum, emphasizing that successful stabilization efforts create new opportunities for investors as the bullish structure for the currency remains intact. Karapetjanc highlights that, despite current volatility, EUR/IDR offers setups for participants seeking exposure to emerging market strength. "With solid fundamentals and responsive policy, I expect the market to reward those positioned for further Rupiah appreciation."
Parshwa Turakhiya, analyst, focuses on EUR/IDR’s short-term setups given ongoing volatility and sentiment shifts. He points out mixed technical signals, with momentum indicators showing buyer attempts but overall trend still pressured. Turakhiya notes that stable oscillators set the stage for range trading between Rp20,065 and Rp20,319. "In such a corridor, quick reactions to price breaks above or below key levels can offer tactical trading opportunities."

Mixed momentum and technicals signal downside risk amid mid-range trading

EUR/IDR is trading below its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages at Rp20,265, Rp20,275, and Rp20,370, respectively, pointing to persistent downside pressure across short-, medium-, and long-term trends. The pair faces near-term resistance at Rp20,229 and is supported at Rp20,164, with Ichimoku Kijun reinforcing the support. Momentum signals from MACD suggest a possible upside bias, but the ADX indicates trend weakness. The RSI, Stochastic RSI, and Commodity Channel Index (CCI) are all in neutral zones, showing no extreme conditions. Bull/Bear Power (BBP) points to buyer advantage, and the Awesome Oscillator (AO) is positive. The pair recently traded at Rp20,192, down 0.46% intraday, sitting in the mid-range of a Rp20,118–Rp20,332 corridor, with volatility at 1.06%. This reflects mild downward pressure with intermittent buyer support.

Earlier, analysts noted that EUR/IDR maintained a bearish outlook amid persistent technical weakness and selling pressure. The latest developments reinforce this view, with enhanced downside risk if the pair breaks below Rp20,065, making this level a key threshold to monitor moving forward.
