Selling pressure pushes Interactive Brokers lower in today trading
Interactive Brokers slides 3.57% today
Interactive Brokers Group (IBKR) is currently trading at $69.11, down 3.57% for the day. The asset remains below its MA-20 at $73.93 and MA-50 at $71.78, indicating sustained selling pressure in the short and medium term.
Interactive Brokers' daily average revenue trades rose 21% year-over-year in February to approximately 4.4 million, despite broader selling pressure.
Trade volumes in February were about 1% lower than January, indicating a slight sequential decline following a strong annual increase.
IBKR trades at $69.11, with short-term resistance at $70.84 and support at $67.15, while momentum indicators suggest a high probability of near-term price rebound.
Bullish trade metrics offset by ongoing broad market selling
Interactive Brokers reported that its daily average revenue trades increased by 21% year-over-year in February, reaching approximately 4.4 million trades. This figure was about 1% lower than January's volume. These updates were accompanied by broader selling pressure.
Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees Interactive Brokers under sustained selling pressure, with price action suppressed below all major short-term moving averages. He notes that technical signals remain weak, as the asset opened with a significant gap down and sellers continue to dominate despite upbeat trading activity reported in recent news. Kharitonov is cautious about the mixed momentum indicators and the lack of clear reversal signals. He also flags risk if support at $67.15 is breached, considering weak ADX and a neutral MACD. "I remain skeptical about any quick rebound given the dominant downtrend and oversold readings that may persist longer," he says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, views the 21% year-over-year increase in daily average revenue trades as a strong signal of robust institutional demand. He emphasizes that, despite short-term volatility, the overall bullish structure remains intact with price comfortably above the MA-200. Karapetjanc expects further growth as market fundamentals and sentiment continue to support higher trading volumes. "With prevailing weekly buy signals and healthy trading metrics, I see this market offering multiple setups for upside participation," he states.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, observes that Interactive Brokers faces persistent downside pressure as sellers control intraday sentiment. He sees the vulnerability heightened by the price sitting near session lows after a notable gap down. For Dele, the weak trend strength and lack of positive momentum raise concerns about near-term recovery. "Current market tone remains defensive and any bullish relief appears limited until we see clear signs of a reversal," he notes.
Mixed momentum with oversold signals and persistent intraday pressure
The price remains well above the long-term MA-200 at $64.59, while the nearest dynamic resistance is marked by the Ichimoku Kijun at $74.01, with MA-50 acting as a near-term barrier. Momentum indicators present a mixed view: the daily MACD is neutral and ADX shows weak trend strength. Several oscillators, including RSI at 46.22, Stoch RSI, CCI, and Bull/Bear Power, point to oversold market conditions and intraday dominance by sellers. The Awesome Oscillator confirms a prevailing downtrend. Today's session began with a notable gap down from the prior close ($71.67 to $68.78), and price now sits mid-range but close to session lows amid moderate volatility, with persistent intraday pressure. Previously it was reported that Interactive Brokers experienced robust growth in February 2026, with daily average revenue trades rising 21% year-over-year and client equity expanding 40% to $820 billion, signaling increasing trading activity and a growing client base. The company's financial position remains strong with significant upticks in margin loan balances and new accounts, indicating solid momentum and resilience against varying market conditions.
