Revenue and cloud partnerships drive bullish corporate flows

Amazon reported quarterly revenue of $181.52 billion and earnings per share of $2.78, reflecting 16.6% growth from the prior year. Amazon Web Services achieved 28% revenue growth in Q1 2026, its fastest in fifteen quarters, alongside the announcement of new partnerships with OpenAI and Anthropic. The company is moving forward with a $25 billion U.S. bond sale to finance general corporate activities, including expanding its AI and cloud infrastructure. Additionally, Amazon entered a commercial agreement with Electrovaya to deploy lithium-ion battery technology in its material handling operations.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, sees Amazon's rally driven by headline AWS growth and positive price action. He remains wary as overbought oscillators and a non-trending ADX indicate that momentum may be stretched. The large upside gap and close near the session high increase the risk of a near-term pullback, especially with volatile reactions to corporate bond issuance. Kharitonov notes that while key moving averages show ongoing strength, the upside is vulnerable if immediate support at $253.31 fails. "Traders should avoid chasing at these levels, as risk of a retracement is elevated if overbought conditions persist," he says.

Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, highlights Amazon's robust Q1 results and renewed AWS growth as major drivers for sustained investor enthusiasm. He sees the $25 billion bond sale and prominent AI partnerships as further reinforcing bullish institutional sentiment and fostering long-term scalability. Karapetjanc notes that the bullish structure remains intact, with strong buying activity keeping the price above all major moving averages. He views the current environment as offering multiple attractive setups, especially if resistance at $256.19 is cleared. "Given these developments, I expect further growth with the market rewarding Amazon’s proactive investment in cloud and AI infrastructure," Karapetjanc asserts.

Bullish trend persists as overbought signals temper momentum

Amazon trades above its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages, with the price at $255.57 compared to the MA-20 at $240.91, MA-50 at $253.31, and MA-200 at $233.59. This configuration signals bullish momentum in short-, medium-, and long-term trends, supported by the MA-50 remaining above the MA-200. The near-term resistance stands at $256.19, while support is identified at $253.31. Momentum indicators present a mixed picture: MACD is neutral, ADX suggests a non-trending environment, RSI at 53.42 shows a 'Buy' signal, and the Stochastic RSI is at 100, reflecting overbought conditions. The CCI supports buying, and Bull/Bear Power at 4.44 points to strong buyer dominance but also flags overbought risk. Today’s move includes an upside gap of about $7.20 (2.91%), with the price near the session high after a $7.82 gain and intraday volatility of 1.15%. The stock is persistently strong toward the top of its range, but some oscillators point to a stretched advance.

Earlier, analysts noted that Amazon's expanding AI and cloud initiatives amid a bullish technical structure pointed to strong upside potential. The current landscape—strengthened by robust AWS growth and decisive momentum signals—raises the likelihood of an imminent breakout above $256.19, making this resistance the critical level to watch in the sessions ahead.
