Financing plan ahead of possible listing
As reported by TechCrunch, citing Bloomberg, Nscale is in talks to raise $3.5 billion before its expected IPO, including $1.5 billion through convertible notes and a further $2 billion in financing from Nvidia.Convertible notes are a form of borrowing that can later be converted into equity, giving investors a route into the company if the listing proceeds. Nscale has said it may go public as early as later this month, although the company has not publicly confirmed the new financing terms in the text provided.
Nvidia already backed Nscale in its March Series B round, a $1.1 billion fundraising led by investment fund Aker. Nscale said that round was the largest Series B in European history, following a $155 million Series A raised in December 2024.
AI compute boom drives investor focus
Demand for AI infrastructure startups remains strong as access to compute becomes a strategic advantage across the sector. That backdrop is helping companies such as Nscale attract large pools of capital ahead of public market plans.Nscale recently signed a deal with Anthropic valued at about $45 billion. Reports earlier this week also said the company has been telling potential investors it has about $103 billion in revenue tied to the agreement, although The Information said that figure represents a projection based on signed customer leases rather than current sales.
TechCrunch said it contacted both Nscale and Nvidia for comment.
Our earlier report on Anthropic’s IPO preparations detailed how the AI company was moving toward a New York listing, with key banking roles and a late-September/early-October timeline taking shape. We noted that investors were watching whether Anthropic could sustain a $2 trillion-plus valuation target, while revenue momentum and intensifying competition in the AI market remained central to pricing expectations.
