Meta stock slips to $748 as support zone comes under pressure
Meta shares consolidate near $748 as support levels face pressure amid regulatory risks

Meta Platforms shares closed at $748.91 on Thursday, down 1.54%, as the stock tested the lower boundary of its multi-month ascending channel. The decline highlights a decisive moment for the company’s technical setup, with the $745–$750 support area emerging as a key battleground between buyers and sellers.

Highlights

- Meta closed at $748.91, testing the $745–$750 support zone.

- A drop below $715 could shift momentum bearish, targeting the $667 region.

- Policy frictions in Europe and AI execution risks add to investor caution.

Meta has fallen beneath its 20-day EMA at $759, a level that had repeatedly acted as short-term support. The next critical cushion sits at the 100-day EMA near $715, coinciding with trendline support from April’s rally. Should this zone fail, the broader bullish structure risks losing credibility, potentially opening a path toward the 200-day EMA at $667.

On the upside, bulls must reclaim $775 to restore momentum and put the August peak near $820 back into focus. The RSI at 46 signals neutral-to-bearish momentum, reflecting waning buying pressure without yet entering oversold conditions.

Policy headwinds add complexity

Macro challenges have resurfaced, particularly in Europe. A recent survey by the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU showed nearly half of U.S. firms—including Meta—expect worsening transatlantic economic ties despite July’s trade deal.

While the agreement prevented sharper tariff escalations, regulatory hurdles remain a persistent concern for large exporters. For Meta, whose advertising and data operations are deeply tied to European oversight, deteriorating relations could weigh on sentiment if policy risks intensify.

Strategic shifts in AI efforts

Reports also suggest Meta is exploring the use of Google’s Gemini AI models to bolster its advertising engine. This highlights both the competitive intensity of the generative AI race and Meta’s internal challenges in scaling its own platforms despite substantial investment.

A potential partnership could enhance ad targeting and defend market share, though reliance on a direct competitor underscores execution risks that investors are watching closely.

Outlook

Meta’s trajectory now hinges on whether it can hold the $745–$750 support zone. A rebound would keep the medium-term channel intact and allow buyers to target the $775–$820 resistance band. Conversely, a breakdown toward $715 would signal a deeper corrective phase, creating a potential entry point for long-term investors.

Previously, we noted that Meta’s regulatory risks in Singapore and its evolving AI strategy were becoming as influential as its technical structure. This remains true, as investors weigh the balance between regulatory headwinds and innovation-driven growth.
