Nick Timiraos, chief economics correspondent at Wall Street Journal, reports that core CPI increased by 0.376 percent in April, with the 12-month measure rounding up to 2.8 percent (2.7502 percent).
According to Timiraos, core CPI has largely remained flat since October, despite appearing lower in some months due to a data gap linked to the government shutdown.
Timiraos previously reported that the Iran war drove global supply chain index higher in April. He also covered comments on the Powell Fed facing the worst inflation in 48 years and concerns over central bank ethics. These topics follow ongoing coverage of inflation and economic pressures.
