Leaving BTC splits influence and weakens impact, Alex Bosworth notes
Splitting from BTC reduces network influence

Alex Bosworth, head of infrastructure at Lightning Labs, argues that those who have split from the BTC network have not only sacrificed its network effect and utility, but also diminished their own ability to influence both BTC's direction and the people who remain committed to it.

Bosworth concludes that such departures ultimately benefit BTC, as he believes splitters were a negative influence on the core community.

Bosworth has previously identified slow invoice settlements and payment failures on certain networks due to strained inbound liquidity. He has also analyzed how the use of shared UTXOs could increase centralization among trusted entities, even as reliance on trust is reduced, in the crypto ecosystem according to his earlier remarks. These observations reflect ongoing concerns around network structure and operational reliability.
