Startup software rarely reaches $1 billion valuation in equity investment space, Brett Caughran notes
Few startups hit $1 billion in finance

Brett Caughran observes that for decades, the front office of global fundamental equity investment firms has largely depended on Excel and Bloomberg.

He points out that, aside from AlphaSense, there are few startup software companies that have achieved a $1 billion or higher valuation within this sector.

Caughran has previously reviewed two decades of buy-side research innovation, including the rise of new modeling platforms and data sources, in an earlier assessment of research productivity tools. He has also announced a live webinar for fundamental investors on building AI-driven credit workflows. These contributions reflect his ongoing focus on digital tools in investment research.
