Martin Lewis: Energy firms in breach if charging exit fees within last fifty days of fixed tariff
Energy suppliers breach rules with exit charges

Martin Lewis, Martin Lewis and founder of MoneySavingExpert, stated that energy firm regulations allow people to switch within the last fifty days of their fixed tariff without being charged. He added that if firms impose such charges, they are breaching regulations. Lewis also said that providing incorrect information that may discourage switching could itself be viewed as a breach, and asked whether others are experiencing similar issues.

Lewis previously cautioned that the UK energy price cap may increase by about 20 percent in January following natural gas price rises, according to his recent comments on UK energy price cap trends. In a separate update, he highlighted that some banks in the UK are offering up to £600 in free cash ahead of Christmas, as detailed in bank promotional offers. These remarks come as consumers face ongoing changes in utility and banking terms.
