Gartner projects $1 trillion AI spending

Gartner projects nearly $1 trillion in infrastructure spending for artificial intelligence in 2026, with total spending expected to reach $6 trillion by 2030.

Tansu Yegen, a tech and finance commentator, reported that Gartner sees over $3.5 trillion at risk and forecasts that 80 percent of neoclouds may lose independence by 2030. According to Gartner, achieving a 12 percent return would require $8.5 trillion in revenue, compared to its $3.6 trillion forecast.

Earlier this year, Tansu Yegen commented on OpenAI reaching a $50 billion annual revenue run rate, highlighting a shift in investor expectations for AI companies. In a separate report, he noted that AI infrastructure borrowing had dropped sharply from $113 billion in June to $23 billion by September. These developments come as investors continue to reassess capital allocation within the AI sector.
