IMF: Interest payments 9.5 percent of revenues

Interest payments have reached 9.5 percent of tax revenues in developed countries, according to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Jeroen Blokland noted that this figure averaged only 6 percent between 2011 and 2019 and added that the numbers have direct implications for individuals' finances and wealth.

Jeroen Blokland has previously addressed tax policy concerns in other contexts. He described aanwasbelasting as a bad tax and highlighted issues with double taxation in the box 3 debate. In a separate article, Blokland argued that public anger has focused on the wrong box 3 tax issue, missing broader concerns outlined in the ongoing discussion.
