Adding a mnemonic backup is Bitcoin Core's most important upgrade, Francis Pouliot argues
Bitcoin Core urged to add mnemonic backup

Francis Pouliot said that the most important improvement for Bitcoin Core would be the addition of a mnemonic backup feature. Pouliot noted that the specific implementation—whether BIP39 or another format commonly seen in Electrum—matters less than enabling this functionality.

He emphasized that storing a seed on a metal plate with a passphrase is common behavior and that people use and seek this method for valid reasons.

Pouliot has previously worked to advance Bitcoin usage, introducing the Orange Pill Challenge to encourage merchant adoption in Costa Rica. In an earlier update, he noted the Trump administration's endorsement of the right to conduct private blockchain transactions in private blockchain environments. Both initiatives highlight his ongoing involvement in key Bitcoin developments.
