Short-term health insurance covers more providers at a lower cost, Brian Blase argues
Short-term coverage compared to ACA plans

Brian Blase stated that most people can obtain short-term insurance, which is generally less expensive than Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans and covers a greater number of providers. Blase added that after five years in an ACA plan, he has found the premiums and deductibles high for coverage that includes relatively few providers. He expressed a preference for being able to use his Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA) to purchase a short-term plan.

Blase has previously raised concerns about billion-dollar subsidies for health insurers. He cited issues such as fraudulent enrollments and broker payouts in that context. His recent remarks build on ongoing scrutiny of the health insurance market.
