Premiums returning to prior levels with more generous drug coverage, Marc Goldwein notes
Premiums increase as $2,000 drug cap set

Premiums for drug benefits will increase by $17 a month, returning to their previous level in 2024 while annual drug costs will be capped at $2,000. Marc Goldwein argued that these premiums remain too low compared to the value of the more generous drug benefit, and called for an end to claims that premiums are excessively high.

Goldwein has previously discussed fiscal policy measures, noting that limits to the charitable deduction could raise $100 billion without reducing giving, according to Tax Policy Center data. In a separate analysis, he observed a shift in trend from overestimating to underestimating expected interest rate moves in forecasts earlier this year. His recent comments on drug benefit premiums add to a series of observations on policy and market expectations.
