Fair Isaac stock drops almost 7% after earnings update and pension fund trims stake
Fair Isaac slides 6.62% today

Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO) dropped 6.62% after updated earnings and a guidance raise failed to spark buying interest, with shareholder selling activity overshadowing operational progress. The decline is reinforced by the stock’s position below all major moving averages and the confirmation of a bearish technical structure.

Pension fund divestment and earnings boost drive fresh selling wave

Fair Isaac Corporation reported updated third quarter and year-to-date earnings as of July 29, 2026, and raised its full-year guidance for revenue, net income, and earnings per share. Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan Trust Fund reduced its holdings in Fair Isaac Corporation by 45.5% during the first quarter, now holding 1,492 shares after selling 1,245 shares. These events were accompanied by broader selling pressure in the stock.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, views the recent drop in FICO as a clear warning sign for bulls. He sees persistent weakness both technically and fundamentally, with major shareholders like HOOPP cutting exposure and prices tracking below critical moving averages. Kharitonov points to oversold readings, but he notes these do not guarantee a reversal, especially as institutional sentiment trends negative. The analyst believes the failed reaction to upbeat earnings delivers a strong bearish signal. "Until FICO reclaims key levels and stabilizes inflows, the path of least resistance remains lower," he says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, highlights the company’s solid earnings growth and optimistic forward guidance. He believes recent volatility creates attractive opportunities for patient investors. Karapetjanc notes that the long-term bullish structure is intact despite near-term selling, especially with FICO raising its revenue and EPS outlook. "With renewed guidance and robust fundamentals, I expect further upside once technical selling exhausts," the expert says.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, sees the heavy selloff as a result of weakening market confidence and tactical selling pressure. He finds broad-based selling and a break below major averages troubling, as they suggest negative sentiment is entrenched. Dele warns that large holders reducing positions will likely weigh further on price action. "For now, there is little to suggest FICO will find a durable bottom this week," he states.

Persistent downside bias as price tests support amid mixed momentum

FICO is trading below its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages ($1,249, $1,217, and $1,375 respectively), highlighting persistent selling pressure across all timeframes. The nearest support level is $1,037 (today’s low), with resistance at $1,071 (week low), keeping the short-term outlook bearish. Momentum signals are mixed: the MACD points to strong buying, but the ADX is neutral. The RSI is at 40.19 with a sell bias, and several other oscillators including CCI, Stochastic RSI, and Bull/Bear Power indicate oversold conditions. Intraday, sellers dominate as reflected in the BBP reading of -97.12, Awesome Oscillator is neutral, and volatility is elevated at 7.11%. The price remains near its session low with little evidence of relief.

Earlier, analysts noted that Fair Isaac Corporation was likely to remain rangebound as mixed technical signals balanced short- and medium-term bullishness against a longer-term bearish bias. The decisive breakdown below all key moving averages and confirmation of a sustained bearish structure now heighten downside risks, making the $1,037 support level critical to monitor for further deterioration.
