Moderna jumps more than 100% after Phase 3 melanoma trial success
Moderna received one of its strongest fundamental catalysts in years after reporting successful late-stage results for its personalized cancer therapy.
Moderna and Merck said the Phase 3 INTerpath-001 trial of individualized mRNA therapy intismeran autogene in combination with Keytruda met both its primary endpoint and a key secondary endpoint in patients with completely resected stage IIB–IV melanoma.
The combination delivered a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in recurrence-free survival, meaning patients remained free of disease recurrence for longer compared with Keytruda alone.

Extreme volatility raises intraday pullback risk
MRNA stock more than doubled in premarket trading after the positive Phase 3 results were released.
After such a large gap higher, traditional technical levels temporarily become less reliable. Intraday price action takes on greater importance, as the probability of profit-taking rises sharply after the initial surge in demand.
This creates a short-term setup in which traders may look for an intraday short opportunity once the initial momentum begins to fade. A move of more than 100%, however, also means volatility is extremely high, making strict risk management particularly important when trading against such a powerful news-driven move.
At this stage, identifying specific support and resistance levels would be premature. For short-term traders, the more important signals today will be price behavior after the open, trading volume and any signs that the initial momentum is weakening.
Phase 3 success meets short-term profit-taking risk
Even a significant intraday pullback after such a sharp rally would not automatically signal a deterioration in the fundamental outlook. The successful Phase 3 readout substantially increases the importance of Moderna’s oncology pipeline and reinforces the potential of its mRNA platform beyond the traditional vaccine business. At the same time, the market has priced in a significant portion of those expectations almost immediately. After the stock more than doubled, the balance between the improved fundamental outlook and short-term profit-taking becomes especially important.
