Palantir stock nears $180 as strong tech sentiment masks signs of exhaustion
Palantir enters the new week with an unusual mix of strong sector momentum and growing caution within the stock itself. The next few sessions should show which of those forces has more influence.
UBS has added Palantir to its list of 14 highest-conviction ideas across technology, media and telecommunications. The bank’s analysts believe the current AI investment cycle is still in its early stages, while broader enterprise adoption and further consolidation among IT vendors could create substantial upside for selected companies.
UBS highlighted Palantir for its position in AI and data software. Analysts estimate that the company could deliver revenue growth of roughly 88% while maintaining strong margins, a combination that makes PLTR one of the bank’s more notable software ideas.

A failed $180 breakout could bring $170 back into focus
PLTR has moved close to the previously highlighted $180 target. A decisive break above that level could accelerate the rally toward $188.
There are, however, early signs that momentum may be losing some strength. The past two trading sessions both closed with doji candles, even as the broader technology sector remained supportive.
That makes the stock more vulnerable if sector sentiment starts to weaken. If PLTR fails to establish itself above $180 over the next few sessions, the probability of another test of $170 support would rise.
Strong fundamentals meet fading momentum
Palantir’s fundamental backdrop remains supportive. UBS continues to show high conviction in the company, while strong AI sentiment across the market is still working in PLTR’s favor. After such a rapid advance, though, investors may now want stronger evidence that the move can continue.
That puts the focus squarely on $180. Holding above it would give the move toward $188 firmer technical confirmation. Failure to do so, combined with two consecutive doji candles and softer momentum, could quickly bring selling pressure back into the picture.
