Neutron launch plans and client backlog support sector demand

ARK Invest recently purchased approximately 359,612 shares of Rocket Lab, amounting to an investment of about $25.1 million. Rocket Lab is preparing to launch its Neutron rocket to meet medium-lift market demand as SpaceX adjusts its strategy. The company maintains a substantial backlog of Neutron launches from both commercial and government clients and supports a diverse space hardware business.

Anton Kharitonov, expert at Traders Union, views the ARK Invest share acquisition as a temporary boost but notes Rocket Lab’s long-term technical resistance remains unresolved. He points out that the price stays below the 200-day moving average and observes bearish signals from key indicators. Overbought momentum is concerning, and divergence among oscillators adds risk. Kharitonov questions the sustainability of recent gains, emphasizing the likelihood of a pullback. “Despite improved sentiment, the setup is not compelling enough for a buy — risk remains skewed to the downside until stronger confirmation appears,” he says.
Viktoras Karapetjanc, expert at Traders Union, highlights institutional interest as a major driver for renewed optimism in Rocket Lab. He believes the company’s solid launch backlog and upcoming Neutron project reinforce the long-term growth story. The analyst remains constructive, noting the elevated intraday momentum and sustained buyer presence. With diverse commercial and government demand, the bullish structure remains intact. “I expect further growth potential as Rocket Lab capitalizes on the expanding space sector — the opportunities outweigh short-term volatility,” Karapetjanc emphasizes.
Sholanke Dele, market strategist, sees lingering macro challenges despite short-term enthusiasm from ARK’s investment. He notes Rocket Lab faces persistent resistance and must contend with growing competition as SpaceX adapts its strategy. The expert warns that volatility near session highs may expose traders to quick reversals. Weakness below $68.85 would accelerate declines and shake investor confidence. “Caution is warranted here — without a sustained catalyst, the risk of a sharp downturn is too high for my comfort,” Dele says.

Mixed momentum and overbought signals cap gains at resistance

Rocket Lab is trading above its 20-day and 50-day moving averages ($65.19 and $69.40), pointing to a supportive short- and medium-term structure. However, it remains capped below the 200-day moving average at $80.86, highlighting resistance on a longer-term basis. The immediate ceiling is set at $79.61, and support is found at the weekly high of $73.57. The Ichimoku Kijun at $70.83 acts as an additional support, and the MA-50 versus MA-200 configuration signals a bearish long-term trend for the stock. Momentum indicators present a mixed picture: the MACD is on a strong sell, the ADX is neutral, and the RSI at 53.95 carries a buy forecast. Stochastic RSI (85.15), CCI (188.44), and Bull/Bear Power (6.47) all indicate overbought conditions, with BBP confirming buyers in control. The price is near session highs, intraday volatility is elevated at 4.79%, and the overall tone is strong. Divergence among oscillators and momentum indicators suggests caution in chasing the move without confirmation.

Earlier, analysts noted that Rocket Lab’s technical setup showed mixed signals with limited upside potential despite operational milestones. The current analysis adds to this view by highlighting continued technical resistance and volatility, with traders advised to watch for a decisive move outside the $68.85 to $79.61 range for directional clarity.
