BT Group shares test GBX 210 as stronger UK growth lifts momentum
Stronger GDP lifts BT towards key resistance

BT Group has finally broken out of the range that had capped its recovery for several weeks. Stronger UK economic data added momentum, but the shares are now approaching a much tougher technical test.

The latest support for BT came primarily from the UK economy. GDP grew 0.1% month on month in August, beating expectations for a 0.1% decline, while annual growth accelerated to 2.1% versus a 1.7% forecast. The economy had expanded by 0.4% month on month in July.

Another company-specific development came on 15 October, when BT launched its revamped BT TV offering. The company has brought together live television, streaming, sport and premium content with its broadband service, completing a more integrated proposition across broadband, mobile and TV.

BT Group needs GBX 210 to unlock the next leg higher

BT shares broke above the GBX 200–203 liquidity zone highlighted in the previous analysis, accelerating towards GBX 207. The move is consistent with the bullish outlook outlined earlier.

Attention now turns to resistance at GBX 210. If buyers can clear that level and establish a sustained hold above it, the probability of a stronger move would increase, putting GBX 220 in focus as the next target.

The difficulty is that GBX 210 has already stopped the advance several times since June 2026. Previous breakout attempts ended with the shares falling back towards GBX 200–203, so a confirmed move above resistance would be the clearest signal that the bullish structure is extending.

Stronger growth helps BT, but GBX 210 still needs confirmation

The stronger GDP reading improves the backdrop for UK companies and suggests the domestic economy remains more resilient than expected. For BT, that adds another layer of support after the breakout from GBX 200–203.

There is a trade-off, however. Better economic data also reduces the urgency for the Bank of England to ease policy quickly. That leaves BT needing to prove its own momentum with a sustained break above GBX 210 rather than relying solely on a favourable macro backdrop.
