BT Group shares price prediction: Can GBX 225 support hold ahead of earnings?
BT Group is extending its rally ahead of half-year results, but overbought conditions are starting to raise short-term risks. The next test is whether buyers can clear GBX 230 and keep the move toward GBX 236 intact.
BT Group will publish its half-year results on 5 November, according to the company’s official financial calendar. Investors will be watching Openreach performance, fibre connection trends and free cash flow. In its previous quarterly update, BT reiterated its target of around £2 billion in normalised free cash flow for the 2027 financial year.
The integration of TalkTalk and PlatformX will also attract attention. According to BT, the acquisition is expected to require roughly £400 million in cash expenditure during the current financial year. Investors will be looking for signs of how the deal could affect the company’s financial outlook and broader strategy.

Overbought RSI could challenge the move toward GBX 236
BT Group shares reached the second target at GBX 225 and continued higher, fully completing the bullish scenario. As long as the price remains above this level, the upward momentum stays intact.
The nearest resistance sits at GBX 236. A break above GBX 230 could accelerate the move towards that level and keep buyers in control.
As noted in the previous analysis, RSI (14) has already moved into extremely overbought territory, which could limit further upside in the short term. After such a rapid recovery, even moderate profit-taking may be enough to trigger a local pullback.
If the shares fall below GBX 225, the risk of a correction towards GBX 220–218 would increase considerably.
Strong rally raises the stakes ahead of earnings
BT’s recent rally has raised the bar for the upcoming results. Even a solid report could trigger profit-taking if investors conclude that much of the positive outlook has already been priced in.
Volatility may increase over the next few sessions, particularly with the technical picture looking stretched. Short-term traders may therefore want to be more selective with fresh long positions after the sharp advance and avoid taking excessive overnight risk ahead of the report.
