Crypto Venture Capital and Policy by Kathryn Haun

Kathryn Haun is the founder of Haun Ventures, a Web3-focused VC firm managing over USD 1.5 billion across early-stage and acceleration funds. Prior to launching her firm in 2022, Haun served on the board of Coinbase and co-led Andreessen Horowitz’s crypto investments. As a former federal prosecutor, she was instrumental in pioneering the U.S. Department of Justice’s first crypto task force and oversaw cases involving Mt. Gox and corrupt federal agents tied to the Silk Road.

Haun Ventures has backed more than 25 crypto-native companies, including OpenSea, Alchemy, and LayerZero. Her public addresses at Davos, Stanford, and the SEC roundtable have shaped policy alignment for digital asset frameworks. In 2025, Haun joined the Council on Foreign Relations’ digital asset working group, reinforcing her position as a conduit between Washington, Silicon Valley, and decentralized finance.

Haun’s experience on both regulatory and venture capital fronts grants her unparalleled authority in crypto infrastructure development and legal foresight.
