Cruz served as Texas Solicitor General, arguing major cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, gaining a reputation as a skilled constitutional lawyer. In 2012, he won a long-shot Senate race as a Tea Party conservative and quickly became a prominent national political figure. He ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, finishing second to Donald Trump after a contentious primary. Known for his strong conservative positions and willingness to challenge party leadership, Cruz has remained an influential voice in national debates on energy, technology, and economic freedom.
