TU Expert Advice

Andrey Mastykin

Author, Financial Expert at Traders Union

eToro offers a diverse range of trading instruments, including Forex, stocks, commodities, and cryptocurrencies, accessible through its proprietary trading platform. It supports Standard and demo accounts with minimum deposits starting from $50. The company is regulated by reputable CySEC, FCA, and ASIC, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Users benefit from social trading features, particularly the ability to copy trades starting at a minimum of $1, and leverage set by European regulators remains within 1:1 to 1:30.

Despite its attractive offerings, eToro faces drawbacks such as high spreads, occasional technical issues, and a withdrawal fee of $5. The lack of popular platforms like MetaTrader may not appeal to traders who prefer these tools for advanced features. eToro's social trading focus may be best suited for beginners and passive investors looking for a user-friendly platform to explore copy trading strategies. However, active traders seeking competitive spreads or automated trading options may find other platforms more suitable for their needs.

We checked the office of the eToro brokerage company in Cyprus, which is located at the following address according to the information on the company’s website:

It's easy to use.

Available in Us only

eToro’s options trading platform is super easy to use, perfect if you’re just getting started. Plus, no commissions, which is awesome when you’re learning the ropes. But there are a couple of downsides. It’s only available in the US, and if you’re a more experienced trader, you might find it too basic—there just aren’t enough advanced features. Great for beginners, but if you need more tools, it might not be the best fit.

Excellent!

Nothing.

When I started using eToro, I quickly realized that picking traders to copy isn’t just about going after the highest returns. Chasing profits can be tempting, but I’ve found that reliability is what really matters. It’s better to follow a trader who knows how to manage risks and doesn’t let their portfolio take huge hits. The key is finding someone steady, who values consistency over big but risky gains. Many traders I’ve talked to feel the same—don’t just look at the numbers, make sure your broker and the traders you follow are focused on keeping your investments safe and stable.

Good

No weaknesses

eToro is a very user-friendly app. It's an intuitive, making it easy to choose assets with plenty of filters to help you out. Plus, it’s the only app where copy trading is seamlessly integrated—you can start copying traders right from the main page with tons of filters to narrow down your choices.
On the downside, the spreads for forex are a bit on the high side compared to other top brokers. A 1-pip spread for EURUSD is manageable, but 2.0 pips for GBPUSD and over 2.0 for less liquid pairs is quite a lot. There’s also no ECN account for active trading, which is a drawback if you're looking for tighter spreads.

eToro is suitable for investors who want to copy successful traders. It offers the Popular Investor feature, where you can earn up to 2% of the copied volume. The platform is fully web-based and mobile-friendly, with a low entry threshold. The downside is the high spreads and a limit of 100 copiers per lead trader. There’s also no option to use expert advisors or algorithms.

I opened an account on eToro with the minimum deposit of $50, and the platform's interface turned out to be convenient, especially in terms of copy trading. The minimum amount for copy trading is only $1, which makes it easy to start. The available instruments include stocks, currencies, commodities, and cryptocurrencies. On the downside, there is no MT4/MT5, and withdrawals cost $5. Also, the number of followers is limited — a maximum of 100 traders can copy one.

I agree — eToro’s interface is definitely one of the most user-friendly for anyone interested in copy trading. The minimum amount of just $1 for copying is a great option for diversifying even a small portfolio. However, the lack of MT4/MT5 was a downside for me too, since I’m used to working with those platforms and their more in-depth analytics. The $5 withdrawal fee isn’t ideal either, especially if you frequently deal with smaller amounts. As for the 100-subscriber limit — that’s probably more relevant for those planning to grow their profile as a signal provider.

eToro inspires confidence because it is regulated in reliable jurisdictions, guaranteeing the safety of funds and transparency of operations. This is one of the factors that gives confidence in the company, especially for those looking for a secure platform for investment and trading. However, occasional technical problems in order execution slightly mar the overall impression. In times of high volatility or stress on the platform, delays can occur, which can affect trading results. If eToro finalizes this point and improves terminal stability, the experience of interacting with the broker will be much better.

On eToro, the ability to copy transactions with a minimum amount of just $1 is a pleasant surprise. This is great news. You can test strategies, follow successful traders and gradually gain experience without worrying about big losses. However, you have to bear in mind that spreads are quite high. For active traders, this can be a major drawback, especially if you make a lot of short-term trades. If you're trading long term or concentrating on copying strategies, this point won't be critical, but those used to narrow spreads should calculate the possible costs.
