Bitfinex announced it has secured a Digital Asset Service Provider licence in El Salvador, allowing its core platform to operate under local regulation and completing its licensing coverage for spot, derivatives, and securities services in the country.
On May 12, 2026, Bitfinex announced it has received a Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP) licence in El Salvador. This licence allows the core Bitfinex platform to operate under the country's regulatory framework, covering spot trading and completing the broker’s regulatory coverage for derivatives and tokenised securities, which were previously licensed in January 2025 and April 2023, respectively.
With this milestone, Bitfinex now operates as a regulated entity across spot, derivatives, and securities in El Salvador. Bitfinex described the expansion as part of its broader commitment to compliance in the region and noted that the country remains a closely watched jurisdiction for digital asset regulation and Bitcoin adoption.
