UZX reported that the U.S. Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network has barred American banks from processing transactions with MEXC Global, following allegations of at least $16 billion in illicit flows involving countries such as Iran, North Korea, and Russia. The restriction will take effect 30 days after its publication in the Federal Register.
On November 6, 2026, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) imposed a special measure prohibiting U.S. financial institutions from processing transactions involving MEXC Global. According to the Treasury, this action was taken under the Combating Russian Money Laundering Act and follows allegations that MEXC facilitated over $16 billion in illicit transactions connected to countries such as Iran, North Korea, and Russia, as well as sanctions evasion and other unlawful activities. The measure, which is not an asset freeze but a block on correspondent financial access, will become effective 30 days after its publication in the Federal Register. U.S. institutions found to be in violation may face civil or criminal penalties.
