Interactive Brokers review: New IBKR Desktop update redefines trading speed
Interactive Brokers has announced Version 1.2 of IBKR Desktop, the next-generation trading platform that combines accessibility with powerful trading tools. The new release focuses on speed, customization, and usability, responding directly to feedback from the company’s most active traders. With its intuitive layout and newly integrated one-click order transmission, IBKR Desktop aims to make professional-level trading effortless for all experience levels.

Through IBKR Desktop, users can trade across more than 160 global exchanges, accessing a wide range of assets including stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds, Business Wire reports. Designed as a unified solution, the platform supports real-time portfolio management and global investment diversification under a single interface.
New features and upgraded functionality
The latest version delivers multiple improvements. The QuickTrade feature reduces the number of clicks needed to place an order, while new keyboard and mouse shortcuts enable instant execution — a crucial enhancement for fast-moving markets. IBKR Desktop also introduces intuitive currency management, allowing clients to easily convert balances and view profits or losses in one chosen currency.
For investors seeking detailed tax management, the platform’s “Close Specific Lots” tool lets users decide which holdings to sell based on long- or short-term gains. Another standout addition is Ask IBKR, an AI-driven assistant that answers questions about portfolio performance and trading metrics in plain language.

Unified infrastructure and global reach
IBKR Desktop joins a suite of platforms, including IBKR Mobile, Client Portal, and Trader Workstation (TWS), all built on Interactive Brokers’ robust technology framework. Whether on desktop, web, or mobile, clients can trade globally with the same infrastructure and pricing advantages.
Version 1.2 continues Interactive Brokers’ mission to make advanced investing tools accessible worldwide — enhancing flexibility, transparency, and efficiency for modern traders.
