Ouster, Inc. has supplied its digital lidar sensors for Sandvik's AutoMine Concept autonomous loader, designed to operate in harsh underground mining environments characterized by dust, darkness, and confined tunnels.

The fully autonomous vehicle uses 3D perception technology to navigate and respond in real time, streamlining operations and enhancing safety. This partnership underscores the growing adoption of advanced sensing systems in mining automation as companies seek to improve reliability and operational efficiency underground.

Ouster has expanded its lidar technology into other sectors in recent years. The company introduced BlueCity smart intersections using lidar and AI to improve urban safety and congestion.
