But we saved everything 🙂.
Pacific Biosciences of California has announced a significant reduction in human genome sequencing costs, now down to approximately 345 dollars per genome. The company attributes this breakthrough to the integration of its SPRQ-Nx platform with advanced AI-driven analysis, as well as enhancements in DeepConsensus software in collaboration with AlphaEvolve.
The improvements reportedly also deliver higher accuracy in PacBio HiFi reads, accelerating progress in genomics and broadening access to affordable, high-fidelity genomic data. This move may facilitate further advances in personalized medicine and large-scale genomic research.
Earlier this year, Pacific Biosciences launched a HiFi sequencing workshop at AACR26 focused on cancer genomics and epigenomics research. The company also reported that PacBio HiFi whole genome sequencing improved detection of disease-linked structural variants across diverse populations in a recent advance in disease research. These initiatives add context to the firm's drive for lower costs and higher accuracy in genome sequencing.
