Couchbase urges enterprises to address data layer gaps for AI deployment success
Couchbase warns on AI data gaps

Couchbase contends that most artificial intelligence pilots impress company leadership but often do not reach production due to shortcomings in the data layer rather than issues with the AI models themselves.

The company recommends that organizations focus on upgrading their technology stack, particularly the data infrastructure, instead of continuously swapping out AI models. This approach, Couchbase argues, is key to moving beyond impressive demos to actual enterprise deployment of AI solutions.

Earlier this year, Couchbase launched Agent Memory to help AI assistants retain user context across sessions. Separately, the company’s technology has enabled Agora to achieve sub-500ms response times in real-time conversational AI agents. Both initiatives focus on improving core data infrastructure to support advanced AI applications.
