Ouster introduces automatic 3D mapping in Studio without external SLAM pipeline
Ouster launches instant 3D mapping

Ouster launches a streamlined feature in Ouster Studio that eliminates the need for external SLAM pipelines to convert lidar recordings into usable 3D maps.

By simply uploading data recorded with an Ouster sensor, users can access automated 3D map generation, reducing traditional workflow steps. The solution allows for immediate visualization and use of lidar data from mobile environments, such as walks or drives, enhancing efficiency for businesses and developers. This update positions Ouster Studio as a more accessible tool for rapid mapping projects.

Earlier, Ouster broadened its BlueCity lidar coverage in Utah to nearly 300 intersections, even as its shares slipped 2.9% on the day of the announcement. The company also introduced on-sensor 3D Zone Monitoring with support for up to 128 user-defined areas and real-time triggers in a recent upgrade. These developments reflect Ouster’s continued focus on integrated lidar solutions for diverse applications.
