Viasat has received the Connected Car Innovation of the Year award at the AutoTech Awards for its work in integrating vehicles with its L band satellite network.

According to the company, demonstrations with partners have shown that vehicles can connect beyond traditional cellular coverage, enabling future off grid emergency calls and remote diagnostics.

Viasat recently brought all three ViaSat-3 satellites online, tripling its network capacity and expanding service for key markets worldwide, according to a previous company update. The deployment marked a significant expansion in Viasat’s global coverage.
