NVIDIA, Meta expand Muse partnership and add $3 billion equity investment
The latest step in the companies' long-running AI alliance centers on scaling infrastructure for Muse and related models as demand for AI agents grows. The expansion includes deeper work on training and inference performance, broader deployment of NVIDIA systems at Meta, and a $3 billion investment by NVIDIA in Meta's equity offering.
Highlights
- NVIDIA and Meta expanded their Muse partnership to optimize AI agents' training and inference, aiming to improve performance and reduce total cost of ownership.
- Meta will deploy next-generation NVIDIA infrastructure, including Vera Rubin, Vera CPUs, Spectrum-X Ethernet, and BlueField-4, to enhance AI agent performance and network efficiency.
- NVIDIA committed a $3 billion equity investment in Meta's offering, linking operational AI infrastructure collaboration with a direct financial stake as both pursue mass-market AI agent deployment.
Muse expansion and infrastructure plans
According to IPR Software Media, as announced by NVIDIA Newsroom, NVIDIA and Meta are expanding their collaboration on Muse and the wider Muse family of models to improve training and inference performance for AI agents. The companies say they plan to optimize workflows across the stack to raise performance and lower total cost of ownership as adoption increases.Meta's Muse models and agents, which use NVIDIA infrastructure, have posted frontier-level benchmark performance and rising consumer downloads since launch, according to the announcement. The partners also say they will consider further work tied to NVIDIA OpenShell Reference Architecture, including NVIDIA OpenShell for safe deployment and NVIDIA Sentry for monitoring agent behavior.
Meta also intends to expand deployment of NVIDIA infrastructure for next-generation AI agents, including Vera Rubin and Vera CPUs to improve performance per watt. The company says it will also deploy NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking and BlueField-4 to support network efficiency and throughput.
Strategic and market implications
The announcement adds a capital markets element to the partnership, with NVIDIA saying it will invest $3 billion in Meta's equity offering. That move links the operating collaboration on AI infrastructure with a direct financial commitment as both companies push to shape the market for consumer and enterprise AI agents.NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang says AI agents are creating a new computing paradigm in which software understands goals, reasons, uses tools and completes work for users. Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg says Muse is intended to bring personal superintelligence to everyone, underscoring both companies' focus on scaling capable personal agents and frontier models to billions of users.
Our earlier article on the U.S. AI data center buildout highlighted growing pressure from rising financing costs, construction delays, and power-grid constraints. We noted that only a minority of planned projects were seen as credible, while tighter capital markets and local opposition were increasingly slowing the pace at which new compute capacity can come online.
