Ledger launches Security Key app

Ledger has introduced the Security Key app, a new feature enabling users to convert their Ledger devices into hardware security keys for Gmail, GitHub, Coinbase, and other platforms.

This development enhances protection against unauthorized access by leveraging Ledger’s hardware authentication for password resets, account sign-ins, and recovery codes. The update underscores Ledger’s ongoing expansion of its ecosystem beyond crypto custody devices.

Ledger previously set a $10,000 bounty for security innovations at its XRP Ledger Hackathon in New York. Earlier, the company called for a halt to device sales in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong during an ongoing investigation, according to company announcements. The latest update adds to a series of recent steps by Ledger to address both product development and regional market issues.
