Bitcoin price drops to $86,141, triggering $1.57 billion in liquidations
Market pressure and institutional moves

Bitcoin’s decline to $86,141 and a broader crypto market drop of over 5% led to $1.57 billion in trader liquidations. The largest single liquidation order was recorded on HTX for BTC-USDT, valued at $39.62 million.

According to Coinglass, 371,276 traders were liquidated in the past 24 hours, with a total of $1.57 billion in liquidations, mostly from long positions.

Bitcoin led the liquidations with $757 million, followed by Ethereum ($306 million), Solana ($95 million), and XRP ($65 million).

Market pressure and institutional moves

The crypto market correction coincides with a major sell-off in the stock market due to macroeconomic concerns and uncertainty surrounding U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff policies.

Although Bitcoin briefly rebounded above $88,000, bearish sentiment persists, driven by institutional activity.

Selling pressure increased after Bitcoin ETFs saw $500 million in outflows and reports surfaced that BlackRock transferred 18,168 Ethereum ($44 million) and 1,800 Bitcoin ($160 million) to Coinbase.

Such large transfers from institutional players are often interpreted as signals of upcoming sell-offs. While these sales are not guaranteed, they negatively impact investor sentiment, suggesting either weakening confidence or a potential market downturn.

Bitcoin’s dominance in the cryptocurrency market has surged to its highest level since March 2021. Analysts at CryptoRank have highlighted that BTC has shown greater resilience than altcoins during the recent market downturn.
