Mercuryo expands crypto payments with Visa Direct integration

Following Mastercard’s payment network, crypto company Mercuryo, which operates in more than 150 countries, has announced a partnership with Visa to accelerate crypto-to-fiat payments.

Visa Inc. said on Thursday it has partnered with crypto payments provider Mercuryo to enable users to convert digital assets into fiat currency and send funds to Visa cards using Visa Direct, its real-time payments network.

The integration allows eligible users to receive funds within minutes, improving settlement speed and reducing costs, including for cross-border payments.

The deal is part of Visa’s expanding digital assets strategy, which includes a stablecoin advisory practice and growing stablecoin settlement volumes.

Under the agreement, eligible Mercuryo users can convert cryptocurrency into fiat money and receive funds on Visa debit or credit cards, typically within minutes. The companies said the service is designed to lower costs and speed up settlements compared with traditional conversion and payout methods.

According to Crypto.news, Visa Direct is already used for real-time money transfers between brokerage, crypto, and digital banking accounts. This collaboration extends that infrastructure to Mercuryo users, enabling faster cross-border payouts and access to local currencies.

A new phase of financial opportunities

Mercuryo is well known in the payments market for its Mercuryo Spend Card, a crypto debit card that operates on the Mastercard network and is accepted at millions of merchants worldwide.

The card is compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay and allows users to spend cryptocurrencies directly from their wallets, with automatic conversion to fiat at the point of payment. However, certain regional limitations may apply due to local regulations.

Mercuryo also says it partners with more than 200 Web3 companies and applications as a payment infrastructure provider and has served over 12 million users globally. The partnership with Visa is expected to unlock new opportunities for Mercuryo users, particularly in stablecoin conversions.
